Recipe: Almond Oil

Did you honestly think I was going to leave you hanging with the benefits of almond oil and not share my basic recipe with you? Now, keep in mind that creating and infusing your own oils takes patience and time. In the end, you'll have saved nearly $45 just by making the almond oil yourself. Pat yourself on the back, girlfriend! Now, let's get started:

What You Will Need

Blender

1 Bag of Shredded Almonds (Not Salted)

2 TB of Virgin Olive Oil

Quart Size Empty Jar (An old pickle jar works just fine)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place the entire bag of shredded almonds in to the blender. Start blending at a slow speed and gradually increase into a fast setting. Pause blending. As the almonds begin to form into a ball, stop the blender every so often to scrape the buildup from the sides of the blender.

2. Continue blending. After several minutes the ball will begin to break down into a creamy paste. If the ball is slow to break down add 1 TB of the olive oil. Give it another minute or so and if needed, add another TB.

3. Once you have a creamy paste, put it into the empty quart size jar and store it at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to allow the oil to separate from the nut meat. (The gooey stuff you just made)

4. After the course of two weeks, you should notice the oil separating itself from the gooey stuff. When you choose to remove the oil from the quart size jar, filter the liquid into an oil bottle from the Dollar Store. Label it and now it's ready to use! (Make sure the lid is tight)

SHELF LIFE: 2-3 Months

CONGRATULATIONS! You just survived your first lesson and you saved a load of money by keeping it green and staying away from those chemically enhanced products. I'm so proud
