One of the essential basics to creating homemade oils is to select a proper oil base. There are multiple options to choose from but you want to make sure that your oils are safely applicable to your skin. My personal selection when creating essential oils is to use homemade infused almond oil. Let me explain the benefits that are going to astound you.
Almond Oil in General
- This oil is extracted from the seeds of the almond tree by cold pressing the kernels. The botanical name of this oil is Prunus amygdalus var. dulcis. Aromatherapists often use this oil as the base or carrier oil. It is pale yellow in color and has a sweet and nutty aroma. It contains several essential vitamins such as vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 and E. It helps in treating dry skin. All these vitamins rejuvenate the skin and promote hair growth. It can be used by all except those who have a nut allergy. (I'm sorry, I'll post a general oil base creation soon.)
Health Benefits for the Skin
- You can safely apply it on skin. It will simply make your skin soft and supple. You can massage it on your face every night. This oil is a natural moisturizer which suits almost all skin types. It is not very greasy and gets easily absorbed by the skin.
- If your skin is itchy or inflamed, you could apply this oil to ease your discomfort. You could apply it for getting rid of dark circles. Before you go to bed, wash your face and apply almond oil under your eyes. Not only will this gentle massage improve the blood circulation, it will also rehydrate the skin and reduce the fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
- Almond oil is also one of the very effective massage oils. Because of its qualities, it is also used as a carrier oil in aromatherapy and is used in several soaps, creams, lip balms and moisturizers.
OMG, You Can Use it in Your Hair!
- This oil will also provide nourishment to your hair. It contains vitamin B6 which is known for improving the hair growth. The presence of other minerals such as magnesium, iron and unsaturated triglycerides also help in providing nourishment to the hair.
- Almond oil gets easily absorbed and massaging the scalp with this oil will prevent itchiness and dryness of scalp. Those people who have dry hair should gently massage the scalp using this oil and leave it on for 15 minutes before shampooing. This will certainly leave your tresses shinier and healthier.
There's More?
- Oh, yes there is more. Sweet almond oil benefits are numerous. Besides providing a radiant glow to the skin and nourishment to the hair, it also eases discomfort in case of muscle pains. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is also effective in treating skin disorders such as psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema. You could also use it to treat sunburn. It is believed that it can ease discomfort caused by heartburn. Consuming two tablespoons of this oil will provide relief to those suffering from constipation. Once processed, it can also be used for cooking purposes.
So gonna use it in my beautiful blonde locks! =)
